20140731-185222.jpgI was telling a work friend about a genealogy show called, “Who do you think you are?,” and he told me a story about his own.

E is 100% Jewish on both sides. He told me that if things had been different, he would not have been born. He began to tell me about his paternal grandmother.

E‘s grandmother was born in Poland. She was the eldest of eight children. She was well liked in the town her family lived.

When one of the families left for America (New York) due to the problems that were arising during that time, they wrote to ask if his grandmother could come to New York to be their house maid. His grandmother, then twelve, with her family’s blessing, left for America. She was the only one of her family to survive…

Wow… I don’t even know what to say.

I am grateful for E. I appreciate him even more.

I believe we all have stories of survival and gratefulness for life in our genealogy, regardless of race, culture, etc. We all have this is common.

Let us appreciate each other. May kindness bring forth peace for all. We, each of us, have the right to live in this beautiful world.

20140505-211139.jpgI seriously need to stop watching survival shows… HaHa! I just bought this, and I don’t even really know how to use this (and no instructions came with this, except what’s in the front!) It was on sale…

It is something I could use for a couple of bucket list items. One day, I am going to have to learn how to use it, but I think it goes like this…

Shave gray part with big knife. Strike black part for sparks. Fire! 😉

They make things look so easy on TV…
