Today’s quote is from William Shakespeare. “The quality of mercy is not strain’d… it is twice blest; It blesseth him that gives and him that takes.”

Today’s centering thought is I share my divine blessings.

Today’s Sanskrit mantra is Prasada Hum, which means “I am divine grace.”

From today’s message:
Grace is an important aspect of expanding our happiness, because it is through grace that we express love and blessings completely and unconditionally. We are each a source and conduit of grace.

Grace is a loving power and presence that elevates and brightens whatever the challenge or situation might be. As we mature into our authentic selves, we are more open, receptive, and expansive, and so we naturally feel the influence of more grace in our lives. It is this same expansiveness and openness that makes it easy for us to radiate that grace along to others.”

The sixteenth day of Oprah and Deepak Chopra’s Expanding Your Happiness Meditation Experience was about sharing grace.

Oprah shared that Grace is “the unconditional kindness of the universe, the gentle power and serenity that lifts us up no matter what we’re going through. Grace is perhaps the most simple and powerful promise there is. It is a state of pure openness and being available… a space where you can allow a new reality to enter into your very being. Grace fills us up quietly and powerfully. Grace can be inspired by a beautiful moment in nature, or by spending time with someone we love, or just sitting quietly. It can arise from the most difficult of time, moments that offer powerful opportunities for us to grow and be transformed.”

I understand Grace… both from being inspired by nature or from something very good, and I also understand it coming from a difficult time.

I think you know you have changed… changed to someone better, when you can continue to share and offer goodness to someone, especially someone who have hurt you. That you can forgive, not allow your heart to close, and still be selflessly giving… I think that is Grace to me.

Deepak said that “there is an image found in both Eastern and Western traditions, a tree that is so heavy with fruit that it’s branches bow down, offering it’s sweetness to every passerby. That’s a perfect image to keep in mind for generosity of spirit. You give with the attitude of overflowing love, kindness, humor, appreciation… whatever your spirit has filled you with at that moment.”

Today’s quote is from George Gordon Byron. “…let joy be unconfined…

Today’s centering thought is my happiness shines everywhere.

Today’s Sanskrit mantra is Ravaye Hum, which means “I am the light of radiance.”

From today’s message:
Today’s meditation is about letting this happiness radiate – letting our joy shine everywhere. It doesn’t take effort or analysis or strategy. Simply be who you are from your core self, and everything gets taken care of automatically. A flower doesn’t try to be beautiful and fragrant, it simply is what it is, and the rest follows in its natural course.”

The 1st day of week 3 of Oprah and Deepak Chopra’s Expanding Your Happiness Meditation Experience was about radiating bliss.

What happens when we radiate bliss? Oprah shared that “we turn that inner joy into outer energy. We become a natural force of good… of inspiration… of transformation. It’s the ripple effect–the very best of yourself brings out the very best in others.”

It kind of sounds like a superhero power, right? I think that to be an element of change, of positive change, is something to feel good about.

Sharing joy and happiness could be some of the most beautiful (and talk about free) to share, because they also bring out the very best in others.

Deepak shared guidelines for the “do’s” and “don’ts” of sharing bliss. The most important is to just simply be, and share without wanting to force it on anyone. This is also part of your own personal journey, and maybe by sharing your bliss, someone else will want to begin to want to experience this for themselves.

Today’s quote is from Andreas Moritz. “You can only feel creative when there is joy. When there is a sense of passion.”

Today’s centering thought is My happiness energizes and inspires me.

Today’s Sanskrit mantra is Rhabasa Hum, which means “I am pure delight.”

From today’s message:
Today we will explore passion at a deeper level as we connect to what really matters, the source of passion within us. If we can access that infinite source of passion and joy inside, then we can live passion in all areas of our life.

At its source, passion is not associated with any particular object, it is rather a deep feeling of exaltation or even spiritual ecstasy. It is the happiness of life exulting in its own existence. Today we will tap into that blissful core of existence and let our passion flow from that place.”

The fourteenth day of Oprah and Deepak Chopra’s Expanding Your Happiness Meditation Experience was about living with passion.

How do you know when you are living with passion?

Oprah answered that it is when you lose yourself in what you are passionately doing. “It means you are fully in alignment with your most extraordinary, highest self. Whatever you’re doing, you’re immersed in the flow. You are manifesting the magnificence of your very being, and all is sublime. That, my Friends, is happiness in it’s most exalted state and it’s yours simply by being who you are. That is the promise of the divine within you.”

I remember when I would allow the muse to be in control. Sometimes, I wouldn’t be able to sleep until whatever piece or chapter in my head was on paper or the computer. It was that strong.

After I started my Spiritual path, my passions seemed heightened for many things. I would feel an overflow of emotions for them. Sometimes that is scary to me–for someone that was unused to that or didn’t, at one point, let her emotions get even on the surface.

When I do some of my prayers or healing, I sometimes get very emotional or passionate about it. Maybe it is because I would feel such deep connection during that time.

Deepak said that “What makes spiritual passion unique is the wisdom comes packaged with the enthusiasm of the passion we are used to. Passion of any kind opens the flow of life that we can’t help but enjoy. Spiritual passion turns enjoyment into exultation. You feel uplifted by your soul.”

Maybe that is it. That is when I feel most connected to my Highest Self.

20140828-070203.jpgI am really grateful to the “Living Gratitude” meditation from Oprah and Deepak’s “Expanding Your Happiness” meditation journey. I am behind, but this meditation was what I needed today, so it all worked out very well. It was my most favorite one yet.

Today’s quote is from Meister Eckhart. “If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough.”

Today’s centering thought is I am thankful for all I have.

Today’s Sanskrit mantra is Shreem Namah, which means “I honor the abundance of life.”

From today’s message:
There is a deeper kind of gratitude that goes beyond our conceptions and beliefs of good and bad. This expanded sense of gratitude rejoices in life exactly as it is, right now… life is perfect in spite of its imperfections. We find ourselves grateful to simply breathe and greet the sunrise. We feel privileged to engage in the full range of human experiences: busy traffic, strong coffee, and missing a loved one. Our heart is big enough to embrace and appreciate life as a whole, just as it is, without worrying about whether it is “good” or “bad”.”

The thirteenth day of Oprah and Deepak Chopra’s Expanding Your Happiness Meditation Experience was about living with gratitude.

Oprah shared, “I believe the single most important thing I’ve ever done was to begin paying attention to what I’m grateful for. No matter what is going on in life, if you focus on what you have, you’ll always, always, end up having more. Open up to the grace of all that’s been given you simply because you’re here and you’re breathing, and the energy of your every day begins to transform in astonishing ways.”

This meditation day must be my most favorite yet. I resonated with everything Oprah and Deepak spoke about and the meditation itself.

Starting a gratitude journal was one of the most important and life changing things I have ever done. I am in the last two months of my 365 days of journaling, and you can bet, it will not end after day 365.

My journal, here and outside of my blog, gave me a different perspective about my existence, and gave me a true meaning of appreciation and thankfulness for just being alive and for being able to experience life in many different ways, as well as to experience and appreciate the beauty that God has given to us that surround us each day… from the beautiful ever-changing masterpieces in the sky, the butterfly that comes to greet us, or even majestic trees that surround us as we hike.

Life is short, and although I believe in reincarnation, I am Mercedita, with my quirks and perfect imperfections, only in this lifetime. My family and friends are only who they are today in this life too, and I want to behold and experience them as they are.

I have so much to be thankful for. I sometimes feel that I will burst with them, but the two things I am most
grateful for are for my life and for my relationship with God, Spirit, the Higher Power (how you call it). I feel blessed each time I breathe and pray.

Deepak said that the higher state of gratitude is called “Bhakti.” You “can’t help yourself, you are so happy to be alive, whatever the reason, that your gratitude spills over spontaneously. Taking that perspective of gratitude allows you to see more and more things to be grateful for. You nurture the feeling which causes it to expand. With a little attention, every day contains moments of love, beauty, appreciation, kindness, altruism, honesty, and truth. You become aware of the many blessings often overlooked, but which deserve to be noticed and grateful for.

If you offer gratitude from the deepest part of your awareness, you’re shining a light into the darkness, allowing consciousness to unfold in you and in the situation you find yourself in. The more light you give, the more you receive.”

Today’s quote is from E.E. Cummings. “The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.”

Today’s centering thought is life makes me smile and laugh.

Today’s Sanskrit mantra is Kleem Upahasa, which means “I attract joyful laughter.”

From today’s message:
Pure, innocent laughter is the most obvious sign of the joy we feel in our hearts. It is also a powerful and instant way of spreading that joy all around you.”

The twelfth day of Oprah and Deepak Chopra’s Expanding Your Happiness Meditation Experience was about laughter.

Oprah shared that laughter “comes from the heart. It removes barriers and releases the healing energy of play. Laughter is contagious. It’s an extraordinarily powerful life energy. Enjoy a good laugh and you can’t help feeling more alive, more optimistic. That is the uplifting spirit of happiness, and you create it every time your eyes light up in laughter.”

I love to laugh, even at small, silly things. I don’t believe I can get through a day without laughing. Can you? It just makes everything brighter after a good laugh.

I believe in its healing, too. If I am sad, I look for a funny show or a funny piece to read to lift my spirit. You can’t go wrong with laughter.

Deepak said that “if your life is filled with humor and laughter, then your flow of bliss is strong and healthy.”

I am all for a healthy, strong flow of bliss!

Today’s quote is from Lao Tzu. “Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.”

Today’s centering thought is kindness expresses the gentleness of the soul.

Today’s Sanskrit mantra is On Mitraya, which means “I am kind and friendly to all.”

From today’s message:
Kindness is the gracious gesture of a loving heart. Genuine kindness can’t be faked or forced. It must come straight from one’s center of being. It is the soul’s recognition that another person deserves the same love you give to yourself. Kindness bridges our isolated individuality and shows us we are connected at our core. This is how our happiness expands beyond our ego boundaries and transforms our sense of self.”

The eleventh day of Oprah and Deepak Chopra’s Expanding Your Happiness Meditation Experience was about living kindness.

Oprah said, “think of a moment when you gave someone the perfect gift… or said something that was comforting… or you just showed up in a way that really made a difference. I believe that moment created as much joy for you as it did the other person… maybe even more. That’s because when you reach out in kindness, you put into motion an energy that expand exponentially, the generous energy of love, connection, and joy–and that absolutely comes back, always. It is a spiritual law.”

I wrote in a post earlier this month about the perfect gift I gave to one of my friends. It was tickets with a Meet & Greet to Lalah Hathaway’s event. My friend, Sheilani, first took me to one of her concerts, and I was fortunate enough to get her something she would enjoy for an early birthday present.

I remember the joy she expressed when I told her, but I was equally joyful to have been able to get her such an unforgettable gift as well.

But acts of kindness doesn’t have to be an elaborate gift. Sometimes it is leaving money in a vending machine for the next person. It is giving your extra dollars to someone who need it. It is serving a meal at a soup kitchen, or simply even just giving someone a smile. Whatever it is, it is an extension of love you are sharing with another soul.

Deepak said that “love is at the root of happiness, and also kindness. An act of kindness is the natural extension of who you really are. It also indicates that you are allowing your awareness to expand, setting aside the ego’s fears and boundaries that a separated self is forced to live inside.”

Today’s centering thought is I am content, just as I am.

Today’s Sanskrit mantra is Sampriya Hum, which means “I am complete contentment.”

From today’s message:
When we speak of spiritual contentment, we mean more than just feeling satisfied with the circumstances of life. Too often that kind of contentment includes a tinge of resignation as well. Real contentment is the happiness that at your core, all is well in your world. In this state, you are aware that you have everything you need right now to feel good about yourself, others, and life. Even with outer conflicts and uncertainties, your core existence is settled, self-contained, and you know you possess whatever is needed to meet any situation. Living true contentment is more than confidence, it is the feeling of inner fulfillment.”

The tenth day of Oprah and Deepak Chopra’s Expanding Your Happiness Meditation Experience was about living with contentment.

Oprah shared that “what is the secret to beginning from a starting point of happiness every day? It is this… allowing your life to unfold with this confidence–knowing that all is well, and all will be well, no matter what.”

Through my Spiritual journey, I am learning each and every day to Trust, with a capital “T.” I have mentioned many times before that I am allowing the unfolding of my life with Divine Guidance and Divine Timing. That I am trusting the process of Life, because inside I know that no matter what happens, all will be well. So this day’s meditation was a very good reminder and validation for me, and I am truly grateful for it.

Deepak said that “being happy doesn’t mean that everything looks perfect and ideal every minute of the day. It means that life is unfolding without struggle… that anxiety and insecurity aren’t our companions, and that the best time of our lives is now.”

Celebrate the present now, and know that no matter what, “all will be well.”

Today’s quote is from Tom Bodett. “They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.”

Today’s centering thought is my actions have purpose.

Today’s Sanskrit mantra is Dharma Hum, which means “my life has purpose and meaning.”

From today’s message:
Our happiness and contentment naturally expand when we are living a purposeful life. It’s not necessarily a strong feeling and we may not always have a clear vision or understanding of that purpose. It may only be a subtle sense that we are where we need to be, and doing what needs to be done, but that is the heart of a purposeful life.”

The ninth day of Oprah and Deepak Chopra’s Expanding Your Happiness Meditation Experience was about living with purpose.

Oprah shared that “we’re all happiest and inspired when our lives have direction, clarity, and meaning… and it doesn’t matter what your specific purpose is, the truth is, each of us has a road map within. I call it our internal GPS system, and when we live life doing that which gives us the greatest fulfillment, we’re nurtured in the deepest, most essential, almost biological way. Your life is speaking to you, guiding you to the fulfillment that awaits. Listen to the signals. You know it in your bones when you feel right–decisions are easy, there is no struggle–that is happiness. Inherently each of us wants what is the very best for ourselves and intuitively we know in our heart what that is. We really do You just have to learn to trust it.”

Deepak shared from a study derived from Positive Psychology that “you can learn to make choices that lead to increased happiness. The most important is choosing to meditate. Starting from your first meditation, you have strengthened the mind-body connection and improved functioning on many levels including the expression of your genes. Even five years ago it wasn’t known that meditation affects the genes but now this is a proven fact.”

Deepak further shared that “when you mediate and awaken your true self, your desires change. You start to want what is actually good for you, and this natural flow of desire becomes the path of your personal evolution. Noticing and nurturing these impulses with conscious awareness bring your life purpose into focus.”

A year ago, I was on medical leave from a herniated disc. I was in a lot of pain and I couldn’t walk.

I decided to have a body, mind, and soul overhaul. I decided to commit to being healthier, to changing my lifestyle, to Spiritually be more connected, and to begin the process of becoming more open and to trust more.

What I wanted and what I felt I needed to be happy a year ago has completely changed. I have completely changed.

I can honestly say that what Deepak said above about how “noticing and nurturing these impulses with conscious awareness bring your life purpose into focus,” is true. I am more aware of what I have come to do in this life, and I know I have found not only a purpose, but work that will truly make me happy.

I knew I have always been a Healer. I regret that I gave up a chance of becoming a doctor, and fully paid schooling at that. I wasn’t in tune then, as I am now. Now, I am more aware.

I’m at a crossroad regarding my healing abilities, and what I need to do. However, I know that if I trust, open up to all possibilities, and allow my life to unfold without getting in my own way, I will be where I need to be where I can do the most good.

Today’s quote is from Henri J.M. Nouwen. “Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.”

Today’s centering thought is we are here to enjoy.

Today’s Sanskrit mantra is Shree Ram, which means “I embody happiness and vitality.”

From today’s message:
It is natural to express our joys, to share our happiness with others. Watch how young children innocently display their happiness and delight. As adults we have learned to be more guarded with expressing our emotions, even our positive ones, and this has the effect of limiting the positive influence of our happiness in our lives. We need to give ourselves permission to be, to live and feel life as we are.”

The second week of Oprah and Deepak Chopra’s Expanding Your Happiness Meditation Experience is about living joy, inspired, peace, love, playfulness, hope, peace, and wholeness. The eight day focused on how to live with joy.

Oprah shared that joy “is the highest expression of Spirit. When you open up and allow your light to shine, you’re expressing the grandest and most powerful state of well-being imaginable.”

Deepak reinforced, “give yourself permission to experience your joy whenever you feel it. Many people feel uneasy showing too much feeling around others, preferring to be self-contained. They don’t want to attract undue attention to themselves. But you can develop a new perspective, seeing that when you express your joy, you are nurturing your personal reality and therefore reaching a higher state of well-being.”

As mentioned in past posts, I believe in reincarnation. I believe that it is a gift to be reincarnated, not only could we heal past karma with others and grow spiritually in the process, but it is also a gift that we are able to taste, explore, feel, and experience life.

I still sometimes feel self-conscious about expressing joy. I think I will work on pulling down the remaining walls I have to self-containing my joy, and see where that will take me.

Who knows… Maybe the other people around me will join in. 😊
