Today’s quote is from George Bernard Shaw. “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing!”

Today’s centering thought is I am playful.

Today’s Sanskrit mantra is Lila Hum, which means “I am playful.”

From today’s message:
Today’s meditation connects us to the playful nature of our joyful self. Vedic wisdom tells us that all creation arises from Lila, or cosmic play. Expressing our playful nature is a valuable way to stay creative, receptive, and revitalized. When we have fun, we are dancing and singing along with the story of our life. We find our hearts, minds and bodies are lighter and happier. Play time not only makes us feel better, it spiritually rejuvenates us as well.”

The fifth day of Oprah and Deepak Chopra’s Expanding Your Happiness Meditation Experience is on being playful.

These days I do not have any problems being playful. It was always a part of me, and I chose to just be myself a long while ago.

There were moments in my life when I felt I had to stop letting that wonderful part of me out.

Climbing the ladder and being part of management–especially when I was the youngest in my team (the oldest team member started working for the company the year I was born) made me feel like I had to be serious all the time, and since work became my life for many, many years (not anymore, thank goodness), it meant I was serious all the time.

For me being serious all the time, and not allowing myself to be me, took its toll eventually.

I got severely burned out, I was having physical manifestation of illness and pain from stress, and I became increasingly unhappy.

When you become unhappy with your lot in life, it colors every part of your life–family, relationships, work, etc… You lose your perspectives. You forget what is truly important.

Oprah said, “your base level of happiness is determined by how you choose to view and experience your life. See and experience the world through the magical glasses of play and the world lights up.”

This is true. Perception plays a very important role. You can choose to see your glass as half full or half empty. You can make lemonade when life gives you lemons or dwell in the sourness of life. You can choose to feel lack or choose to feel blessed for what you already have. You, and only you, choose what your reality is.

Deepak shared that “there are moments when we feel trapped by things we must do, opinions we must hold, a path we must follow for fear of falling off of it. Because of fear, every day life feels anything but playful. Lila, the spirit of play, embraces joy, spontaneity and fun. In very practical terms, the happiest people make time every day for these things because play time, down time, and time out are important. They allow your brain to refresh itself, renew the spirit. Being too serious or heavy takes us away from our playful, joyful self. It also keeps your spirit from expanding.”

I choose to be my authentic self–whether people will like me or not. This means I allow playfulness to be a major part of me, because this life is a gift. I no longer want to take it for granted.

Every day, there is something for me to be thankful and grateful for!

Every day, there is something new to discover and to learn!

Every day is a miracle, and I feel blessed to have each day I am given in this world.

Today’s quote is from Tony DeLiso. “Happiness is part of who we are. Joy is the feeling.”

Today’s centering thought is Happiness is my true nature.

Today’s Sanskrit mantra is Ananda Hum, which means “I express my pure awareness into the world.”

From today’s message:
Rather than seeking one temporary joy after the next, we will explore the permanent and limitless source of joy that is our essence. Once we connect with our inner bliss, we find joy, understanding and fulfillment in all our actions.”

Today is the first day of Oprah and Deepak Chopra’s Expanding Your Happiness Meditation Experience.

Oprah said, and I believe this to be true because I experience this, that “once you feel and allow authentic joy, every choice you make will continue to expand your state of happiness in ways you just can’t imagine. And as you tune into the powerful vibration of joy, life just keeps getting better, and better, and better, and better…”

My last full day in Lily Dale was a blessing, because I didn’t have any training and it was just a day of exploration and fun. It was easier to stay in the moment and allow things to just unfold… And enjoy.

My job now is to ensure my connection with the wondrous state of joy, and I can get there by going within.

Did you know that by meditating for just 15 minutes a day (and you do not have to do that all at one go, you can break it into 5 minutes here or there) is enough to sustain you throughout the day and help you navigate through any daily “storms” in a calmer way?

And by meditating, it will help you cultivate more sustaining joy in your life… Which can grow so much, you want to share it!

Deepak said, “happiness expands from within us… all the way out to the world–the way a tiny seed sprouts and grows to full flowering, which then shares it’s sweet fragrance.”

Isn’t that lovely? And he’s right. You will feel your happiness overfloweth (love that word–had to use it), and you can’t help but want to share this happiness through your smiles (the kind that truly reaches the eyes and comes from the heart), your kindness, and the way you show gratitude. It’s an awesome feeling!

The “Expanding Your Happiness” meditation journey will break out in the following way:

Week one will help you work on connecting with your inner silence. Week two will help you work on expanding your happiness by working on your limiting thoughts and deepening your awareness. Week three will help you in sharing the ultimate gift of happiness.

So, come on… Let’s get happy! 😁

Thought for the day: As I live more in the present, I am transform into my mature self

Daily Quote:

Today’s message from Osho is about Spiritual maturity.

Excerpt from the course
Every child has to lose his innocence and regain it. Losing is only half of the process. Many have lost it, but very few have regained it. Maturity is a rebirth, a spiritual birth. You are born anew, you are a child again. With fresh eyes you start looking at existence. Maturity is coming. You are gaining your innocence again. Maturity is living in the present, fully alert and aware of all the beauty and the splendor of existence.”

When I was in Lily Dale, someone told me that I had a “purity about me,” and when I gave her a questioning look, she expounded that I had “an innocence surrounding me.” And it wasn’t because the minute I had my first break, I played in the swing set near the building I was studying at! HaHa!

To be honest, I didn’t realize how much my Inner Child wanted out! I was like a kid in a candy store in Lily Dale… Learning, discovering, trying to take pictures of black squirrels because I have never seen them before, or just plain exploring the woods as if I was entering another realm and wondering if I went further and further if I might see a Bigfoot! 😁

Osho’s message about “maturity” is not about growing older or becoming staid. It’s about recapturing our innocence and child-like awe and wonder–the kind that we were born with, before all the conditioning.

If you look at a baby, it is very hard not to smile when the baby does, right? They are still so very connected to God, Goddess, Spirit, Higher Power–whatever you call it. They are still attuned to love. All they know is giving love and receiving love. They are pure love.

Spiritual maturity is all about reclaiming that pure love innocence–and to have love as the primary force in which we think, act, speak, and live.

“How do I get that pure love innocence back?” Well, I’m glad you asked! 😁 LOL

This is how I have been doing it, and maybe you will find what will work for you by reading mine.

I have been going through a rebirth, brought on by my Spiritual path. I have worked very hard, and continue to work hard… on myself.

For over a year, I worked on meditation until I was able to put aside time daily, really looked at myself in the mirror, forgave myself, loved myself, and healed myself, because I want to be a better person, the inspired person, the Spiritual person. To me, this is a work in progress, because I want to improve each day.

With this “maturity” to regain our “innocence,” comes self-responsibility too. It means you own your stuff–what you do, say, think, etc. It means taking responsibility when you do or say something wrong.

In the course of the work on myself, I wrote out forgiveness letters to those who hurt me, but I also asked for forgiveness from those I hurt in the past. (If you are unable to ask for forgiveness in person, you can imagine them in front of you and say how and why you are sorry. You could also write a sincere forgiveness letter and burn to release it. Not only will you heal, you will heal the relationship with the other person, and you will change your perception.

Once you start doing this, start doing stuff you love. Let your Inner Child out to play. Get on a swing set, if you want to. Dance your heart out–in public or in private, or under the rain. Sing your favorite songs (even if you can’t carry a tune)–sing for yourself!

It’s playtime, Baby. Let your love take the lead and finally enjoy your life.
