FYHI have love for my family and friends. I have given unconditional love to others, but I will let you in on a secret…  I have never been in love.  How sad is that, right? I almost put it on my bucket list. HaHa!

In the process of learning to love myself–my authentic self–I really had to look at myself in the mirror.  I realized I put so many restrictions in my life.  That was why I couldn’t be free to live my life the way it should be lived… Happy, Free, and Fulfilled!

“The less you open your heart to others, the more your heart suffers.
~~ Deepak Chopra

I have been hurt and watched others get hurt.  Somehow, at a young age, I closed off my heart with stop signs in all directions and locked it up.  It didn’t matter that a part of my life wouldn’t be able to expand and grow.  At that time, it was better not to be hurt.

If your head tells you one thing, and your heart tells you another, before you do anything, you should first decide whether you have a better head or a better heart.
~~ Marilyn vos Savant

It helped that I had a very logical mind. My mind rationalized everything, making it easier and easier for me to limit any experiences involving my heart.  My mind did a great job of being a dragon, keeping its jewel (my heart) safe.

As I learned to love myself, I realized that in keeping my heart closed, I had imprisoned my Spirit as well.  It wasn’t until after meditating regularly did I realize that I not only have to relearn to trust my heart, but also my intuition too, because the heart and Spirit go hand-in-hand.

Follow your heart, but be quiet for a while first. Ask questions, then feel the answer. Learn to trust your heart.

I had to make a choice.  I had to open my heart to fully live and experience everything this life has to offer.  I had to open my heart to all possibilities–which could mean falling in love or maybe falling out of it.  It was time for my heart to experience fully.  It was time for me to experience fully.

“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.
Everything else is secondary.”

~~ Steve Jobs

My heart is open, but in baby steps mode, but open nonetheless.  As I continue to trust my heart and my intuition, my life is becoming richer and more colorful.  There is still a bit of fear, but I think, everyday, I am getting better at the whole open heart thing.

Also, in the process of loving myself, I learned that I have a far better heart than a better head. ;D

I am grateful for my better heart.  The better heart is much more ready and willing to experience the many things in life.  So now, wherever I go, I do my best to go with all my heart.

“Wherever you go, go with all your heart.”
~~ Confucius

heartWhat makes your heart happy?

What makes your Spirit sing?

It is very easy to lose perspective sometimes, especially when we have so many things we have to do each day.  Sometimes, we get bogged down with our responsibilities at work, home, school… that we forget the most simplest, yet most rewarding things out there.  You know… The stuff that makes our hearts happy… The stuff that makes our Spirit sing!

It could be a new flower you’ve never seen before at the Farmer’s Market.  An old favorite book that begs to be read again.  Maybe it’s a song that brings to mind a beautiful memory from 10 years ago or one you love singing at the top of your lungs (in the shower or in your car).  Whatever it could be, take a moment to enjoy it now, today!  If you can, enjoy a lot today. 😀

I am grateful for music because I enjoy singing.  Singing is probably the fastest and easiest way to lift myself up.

I am grateful for writing! It is my therapy when I need to unload.  It is the doorway to my imagination when I write stories.  Sometimes I would write for hours, forgoing food and water, just so I can get everything the Muse inspired out on paper (or laptop).

I am grateful for food!  Someone told me once, “your eyes light up when you’re talking about food.”  It is so rewarding to try different dishes from different cultures.  It is one of the ways we can learn and understand someone else’s culture and country.  It is also an absolute joy for me to cook for my loved ones.

I am grateful for dancing! Sometimes, you just need to drop everything and just let go to the beat of the music.

I am grateful for books!  I learn so much from reading.  Some books can just take you away to a faraway land.

I am grateful for children!  Isn’t it infectious when children laugh?  I love hanging out with my nieces and nephews.  It lets the inner child out!  Children enjoy what they are doing at the  present moment and they trust in the flow of life without qualms. There are so many things we can learn from children.

What are some of the things that you can do today to bring warmth into your heart? What will make your Spirit shine even more brightly, right now?
